Last week Cida asked me what I would recommend for her to lose about 5 pounds. “Why? I asked. I think you look great (of course this is always the correct answer for a husband).” “You see, since I’ve been on a recent trip to Brazil and all of the recent holiday parties and celebrations, I’ve put on an extra 5 pounds, especially around the mid section,” Cida said. “I don’t feel like my normal self and my energy levels are lower. I am now approaching 40 and I want to look and feel my best. Can you design a program for me? How long will it take for me to see results?” “Of course my dear,” I said. “It is in my best interest to make sure my wife looks and feels wonderful.” “But, here’s a few things you need to be aware of before you get started:
- It will take around 30 days to see some results.
- You must be consistent and do some form of exercise everyday.
- No fat burning pills or calorie restricted eating.
- Develop a “Growth Mindset.”
“And most importantly, this is a “Lifestyle Makeover,” not a “Body Makeover.” I don’t believe in so called “Transformation Programs,” “Fitness Challenges,” or even “New Year’s Resolutions.” The fitness industry loves the month of January because there are so many people who start these programs because it seems like a quick solution to whatever health/fitness “need” they have. This is nothing but marketing hype with fitness providers. The problem is that most people don’t stick with these programs for more than a month or two and resort to their old way of daily living. What a waste of time and money.” “Okay, I already know these things since you’re my husband and we’ve been together for more than 15 years. Yes, of course,” said Cida. Let me explain what this program entails:

Each day within this month I will post the actual meal plans Cida is following. A few occasional recipes will be added as well. In addition, there will be a separate post highlighting each of the above 8 lifestyle factors emphasized in this lifestyle makeover program. Here’s what I expect for Cida to achieve by following this program within the next 30 days:
- A safe and healthy loss of 5 – 6 pounds of body fat.
- A 2- to 4-pound increase in lean muscle.
- A 50 percent increase in absolute strength.
- A noticeable improvement in energy levels, endurance, and vitality.
- A toned and sexy figure.
- A higher level of self confidence.
