Agave Nectar, A Good Natural Sweetener

Besides Stevia, there’s another good option for a natural sweetener, Agave Nectar.

This nectar comes from the same plant that produces tequila and is very similar to honey, but tastes lighter.  It is low on the glycemic index, so it will not cause a huge spike in blood sugar that many other sweeteners do.  This means it won’t increase the production of insulin nor activate the fat storage sytem.

And yes, it is sweet.  In fact, it is sweeter than table sugar and you should only use about 1/3 the amount compared to honey.  Additionally, it is completely natural deriving from a plant, so it’s considered vegan.

You can use it on many types of foods, such as desserts, hot cereals, oatmeal, smoothies and pancakes.  I highly recommend them on pancakes.

Try Agave Nectar.  You will be surprised how good it is.
